After years of working job after job and not quite finding the fulfillment they were looking for, Jill & Niki decided to start something that was all their own. “We really feel like we have some great ideas, and wanted to provide the public with designs and styles that you cannot get at a big name company” Jill said.
So after some serious discussions, careful planning, and a near death experience on the Smokey Mountains (see website for story: www.jilnik-accessories.com), the jilnik handbag business was born.
Offering a mixture of handmade items from up and coming designers, as well as factory made items, the site features a variety of styles for every personality. “We will continually be on the look out for new designers with innovative designs that fit into our company’s philosophy. In this economy we really want to promote and support small businesses like our own. Our ultimate goal is to offer stylish handmade handbags to suit everyone's taste.” Niki said.
Not only are the duo hoping to support an industry of small businesses, the company is also following in the footsteps of other successful companies by "going green" right from the start. “Our packing supplies are made from recycled materials. We ask our vendors not to polybag, and we won’t be sending tons of promotions and catalogs with each purchase. We are also hoping to launch a line of fashionable reusable shopping bags. We have many exciting plans for the future.” Jill said.

The idea for jilnik LLC was developed on a long drive from New Jersey to Tennessee. Rutgers graduates & BFFs Jill McCarty & Niki Morris were on their way to a tradeshow in a 22ft Penske truck. On the long drive they got to talking about life and their goals for the future. What both women had in common, (besides an undying love for handbags) was that they both wanted to own their own business one day. So they thought, why not open an accessory business together?
